We are a club made up of full-time students at Wheaton College. Our group is made up of professing Christians who believe that improvisation is an art form that can be used to glorify God, serve our neighbors, and discover truths about community and ourselves.

wheatonIMPROV has its beginnings with Liz Thompson, who founded the club in the fall of 2002.  Ten founding members met regularly, often joined by guest students interested in trying their hand at improv comedy.  The troupe performed a myriad of open practice shows throughout the year and their first official show at the end of the 2002-2003 school year.  By early fall 2003, the troupe doubled and was split into two troupes with Brendon Culhane coming on board to teach the JV group Catch 21 and Liz Thompson training the advanced group Left Field.  By the end of the 2003-2004 school year, wheatonIMPROV
registered as an official campus club with the performance group Left Field having performed three shows during the school year. The beginning of the 2004-2005 school year saw the remaining Left Field members join with several newer members to found the legendary performance troupe Imaginary Friends.

Through the several years since its founding, wheatonIMPROV has morphed from an innovative underground group to a multi-tiered well-oiled performance and training machine. The club's roster has included a total of four performance troupes: the original classic Left Field, the wildly popular Imaginary Friends, the short-lived (but much-loved) Third Wheel, and the club's two current performance troupes: the fantastical Faux Posse and club's most recent addition
Post Script Ambiguity. In addition to pleasing audiences at sell-out shows, these troupes offer their services in numerous ways to the college and the community of Wheaton, performing for schools, churches and college events. We also offer the opportunity to learn and even perform improv to all interested, in free, no commitment workshops, which are open to all Wheaton students.

We hope you enjoy the show...
